Our work on engineering substantiation covers 2 areas:
 | For existing equipment we will review against modern British or
International standards as appropriate and identify shortfalls. In this
case there is clearly a trade off between the age of the equipment, and its
remaining life, against the cost of upgrading to meet the standards. In
most cases the extent of any work necessary will depend on the duty of that
equipment. We will produce a report highlighting the relevant areas, and
if necessary we will propose a future action plan in conjunction with the
client. We will liaise with the appropriate regulatory authority (e.g.
HSE) if required. |
 | For new equipment we will compare the design against the design intent,
appropriate modern standards and any design safety standards and requirements
that may be set. We will produce a substantiation report to show how
each requirement is met by the design, and highlight any engineered or
operational safeguards that may be required to ensure safe operation of the
equipment. The scope of this report will depend on the nature of the
duty for the equipment. In safety critical areas we will produce a full
report that can be used to prove compliance to the appropriate regulatory
authority. |
